This year’s Nevada Reading Week will take place March 1-5, but the Henderson Libraries will kick off the celebration with an event on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Galleria Library in the Galleria at Sunset.
The event, which will run from 2-3 p.m., will feature local author Lewis Kimberly, who will entertain the audience with tales of Granny McFanny, the leading character in Kimberly’s children’s books. Granny McFanny will also make a guest appearance and children will have the opportunity to create a Granny McFanny-themed craft.
Kimberly will also be available after her reading to sell and sign copies of her book. Participants will have the opportunity to enter a raffle for special Granny McFanny items.
Nevada Reading Week is designed to encourage the community to read. Teachers, librarians, local celebrities and authors, along with patrons of Nevada’s libraries participate in various events throughout the state to share favorite stories and books with the children of Nevada.
